PT Silangkop Nusa Raya (SNR) is a PMA company with an ownership structure of Cokal 75.2% and Indonesian owners 24.8%. SNR holds three exploration licences in West Kalimantan close to the Malaysian border. The SNR Licences cover an area of approximately 13,000 hectares.
Reconnaissance work conducted recently identified potential coking coal in the region. A review of the geological records of the area found that work done by a major Japanese coal company had identified coking coal bearing formations close to the western border of the SNR Licences.
As this is a greenfield exploration programme, a significant base line exploration (scout work and mapping) programme and associated approvals will be required before commencing an exploration drilling phase.
The SNR properties are strategically placed within the region and have the potential to yield high value metallurgical coal export products.
